Stove Top Rice Method for Cooking Alpiste



  • Thoroughly rinse alpiste under water in a strainer and drain.

  • In a medium saucepan, add alpiste and liquid. Bring to a boil, cover, reduce heat and simmer 20 to 25 minutes, until tender.

  • Turn off heat. Let stand, covered, 5 minutes.

  • Remove lid and fluff with a fork to separate.


  • 1 cup (250 mL) alpiste

  • 1 1/2 cups (375 mL) water or other liquid
